About us

Jane’s team is focused and caring. You’d expect that of any health care professional, yet what sets this team apart?

We offer service in multiple locations including LQS Specialists in Richmond, Tasman Day Surgery (neighbouring the LQS Specialists Suites), Nelson Day Surgery (132 Collingwood St), and Manuka Street Hospital.

Clients are welcome to bring family or friends along for support. It’s important to keep your support people informed. They often ask questions that patients may not consider. Jane encourages her clients to bring them along so they can understand what patients will be going through and what to expect.

In comfortable, soothing surroundings. Jane’s clinic rooms are modern and inviting, designed to help put patients at ease.

If you do not have health insurance, Jane is more than happy to refer you to the public hospital system where she will continue to look after you.

Jane gives back to the medical profession. She was the surgical supervisor for Trainee Interns (doctors in their last year of basic medical training) who come to Nelson from Christchurch from 2011 to 2018, receiving the award for best supervisor from the University of Otago in 2017.

Jane is the supervisor of trainees in General Surgery at Nelson hospital and is part of the national selection committee for the promotion of doctors who wish to train as general surgeons. In 2015 Jane received the Denys Sumner award from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. This award is for excellence in clinical teaching of surgical trainees.

Jane spent two years organising the Women in Surgery section at the Annual Scientific Congress for The Royal Australasian College of Surgeons held in Bangkok in 2019 where she was the Chair of that section. She seeks opportunities to encourage more women to consider surgery as a career.

Jane is a mentor to young women interested in surgery in a formal capacity with Wahine Connect.

Jane is honoured to be working in a very important role for the Medical Council of NZ assessing overseas trained surgeons as to their fitness to practice.
