Jane provides consultancy at the clinic in Richmond for:

GENERAL HEALTH PROBLEMS

• Abdominal pain
• Nausea/vomiting
• Constipation
• Diarrhoea
• Change in bowel habit
• Incontinence of faeces (losing control of bowel motion) or faecal leakage
• Anal/rectal pain
• Bleeding from the bottom
• Skin lumps which may be skin cancer, lipoma, sebaceous cyst
• Abdominal hernias – incisional (in previous scars), inguinal, femoral, umbilical
• Pilonidal disease (recurring infection in the butt crack otherwise known as natal cleft)
• Gallstones

COLORECTAL PROBLEMS

• Colon or rectal polyps or cancer
• Family history of colon or rectal polyps or cancer
• Diverticular disease
• Inflammatory bowel disease (Crohns disease or ulcerative colitis)
• Difficulty with stomas (ileostomy/colostomy)
• Rectal prolapse (where the lining and sometimes muscle of the rectum fall out of the bottom)
• Difficulty emptying the rectum

ANAL PROBLEMS

• Haemorrhoids
• Skin tags
• Pruritis ani (itch around the anus)
• Anal fissure (split in anal canal, very painful. Treatment options include injection of Botox to treat this which I can do in the rooms.)
• Fistula-in-ano, this is a communication between the rectum/anus and skin and presents as recurring abscesses around the bottom.
• Anal intra epithelial neoplasia (AIN) which can lead to anal cancer
• Perianal warts (warts around the bottom)
• Anal cancer

Conditions requiring sedation or a general anaesthetic procedures are carried out at Tasman Day Surgery (341 Lower Queen Street), Nelson Day Surgery (132 Collingwood Street) or Manuka Street Hospital.
